A team of Volgograd reached the ACM ICPC World Final

On November 26 – 27 the ACM ICPC Northern-Eastern European Regional (the semifinal for Russian and the neighboring countries) Contest took place in Saint-Petersburg at National Research University ITMO (IFMO). 217 teams, which had already been selected in the rigorous subregional quarterfinals in October – November, competed for the right to reach the ACM ICPC World Final.

This time the semifinal contest was very tense: within the last hour, when the monitor was frozen, the team positions changed dramatically. The first places were taken by the best universities team (IFMO, MSU, Byelorussian SU, Saratov SU, Saint-Petersburg SU). And 16 universities in all got the right to continue the competition in the World Final. Volgograd State Technical University (VSTU) is among them for the first time. This event is very important and significant both for the team and the university, because it is the first time when a team of Volgograd in general reaches the World Final.
