The 3rd All-Russian Student School on Robotics completed

On Saturday, October 11 the official finish of the 3rd All-Russian Student School in Robotics and Embedded Systems happened. The school started on October 6 and based on Computer Science Institute of Volgograd State Technical University (VSTU) being sponsored by Intel Inc.Saint-Petersburg State UniversityNizhny Novgorod State UniversityNizhny Novgorod State Technical University, Nizhniy Novgorod Fund of Assistance for Education and Research and our company Singularis Lab.

More than 80 students, selected from 200 candidates, participated in the school. 40 of them were our guests from other cities: Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Arkhangelsk, Ulyanovsk, Volgodonsk, Chelyabinsk, Tomsk, Novosibirsk, Chita. A very intensive educational program conducted by 20 trainers was proposed to the participants. 3 open lectures were organized during the school, and not only the school participants, but also common students of Computer Science and Machinery Constructions Institutes.

A business meeting was organized for the 1st vice-rector of VSTU Alexander V. Navrotskiy and the Manager on strategic development of Intel Inc. Igor O. Odintsov. It was noticed that the given event was being evolved and getting better and better organized year after year, involving more and more students and taking more serious scientific direction. VSTU is getting one of the mass centers for robotics experts and more well-known Computer Science educational center; every year VSTU students are sent to take part in Intel Summer School in Nizhny Novgorod Lab.

The final day of the school was marked with a quadrotor programming session, where the participants studied how to program quadrotors and could take part in hackaton trying to program a quadrotor for moving along the line. All the school participants got certificates and proceedings.

The school trainers awarded the winners of wall newspaper contest, gave the prizes for the best photos, and for the best ideas in the frame of Intel RealSense idea generation session (Yana Kulikova, Aleksey Galimov, VSTU), and for the best lyrics about the school (Darya Kaftan, Moscow State University, Olesya Shumeyko, VSTU) etc.

The winners in Computer Vision section became Vsevolod Radchenko (South-Ural State University) and Igor Reshetnikov (VSTU). In the section of Mathematical Modelling the best works were of Alexander Egorov (Ulyanovsk State University) and Onik Gasparyan (MIPI). The best works devoted to Mobile and Wireless Technologies were from Saint-Petersburg University of Telecommunication, by Danil Bulanov and Anton Gusev.

Four prizes were given in Robotics section: Pavel Tarasov (VSTU), Daniil Kukushkin (Nizhny Novgorod State University), Stanislav Terekhov (VSTU), Artyom Osintsev (Tomsk University or Control System and Radio-electronics).

The organizers of the school, representatives of Intel Igor O. Odintsov and Larisa M. Fadina, CEO of Singularis Lab Dmitry I. Kryzhanovskiy especially noted the highest level of volunteers’ work and awarded Olga Korsunova, Yuliya Kireeva, Yuliya Scherbakova, Sergey Nozdrenkov, Gleb Agafonov, Evgeniy Sikorskiy, Roman Guschin and Dmitry Zhuravlyov.
